Dr. Cane’s Epigenetic Oral Therapy is based off the work, scientific findings, and clinical applications of Dr. Dave Singh’s Pneumopedics & Craniofacial Epigenetics & Dr. Felix Liao’s “Airway Mouth Doctor” Thrive Appliance.
The treatment and appliance used in the therapy are designed to be biomimic (copying what your body already does/how it grows) by stimulating the stem cells located in the periodontal ligaments (ligaments supporting the bone and gum) of teeth via slight vibration.
The device is removable and is worn after dinner and while sleeping, which is intentional as this is the natural/innate time that teeth/jaw normally grow and develop in children, further mimicking the body’s natural growth timing. The device is custom-made per patient and used to help treat maxilla jaw expansion, alignment of teeth/body, malocclusion (improper bite), fatigue, body pain, underdeveloped airway (floor of the nose, upper jaw, lower jaw), increase tongue space, and improve sleep (with proper oral myofunctional therapy and possible release of tethered tissues, tongue, and lips).
Proper tongue posture (tongue suctioned to the roof of the mouth) helps form and shape the oral cavity and airway space during childhood development. The tongue pressure naturally signals for the stem cells to morph into the jaw bone, making the airway space the correct shape and size for proper tongue posture and nasal breathing.
Oral Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is usually done in conjunction with Epigenetic Orthodontic Appliance treatment and it’s therapy to ensure proper tongue posture. Therapy is offered at our practice, Untethered: Oral Myofunctional Therapy & Tongue Tie Release Center. The oral appliance is built with specific springs that sit where your tongue will rest and this stimulates the change of stem cells to jaw growth/expansion in conjunction with the mechanics taught in therapy at Untethered.
